Dominating the Map: A Quick Review of Territorial.io

If you enjoy strategy games and challenging your choices, then try Territorial.io. It’s a simple web game that will pleasantly surprise you with its enjoyment. I have played for years, and I can say it’s one of my go-to quick, exciting gaming sessions games.

Experience:

The game is multi-player in which you manage regions in a map and expand your region through attacking other players and extending your influence, and defending your region and balancing your resources. What I enjoy most about the game is its simplicity—no complex tutorials and no complex rules to understand. You start with a small region and expand through sending your troops to adjacent regions.

The pace of the game is quick and quick thinking is a must. Much thinking is involved in deciding when to attack, when not to attack, and balancing your resources (like your troop count) such that larger opponents don’t overrun your region. Often, the map keeps changing, and competition is high, and therefore, it’s exciting. There’s a variety of types of games, such as conquest of a whole world and free-for-all, and therefore, variety keeps it exciting.

What I Enjoyed About It:

Simple yet Depthful: It’s simple to start, but skillful to become a master at it. There’s a perfect mix of ease in accessing and strategical thinking.

Multi-player Experience: Real enjoyment comes through competing with real humans. Players’ changing actions present a new experience in each game.

Variety in Modes: With both a casual and challenging mode, variety in types of games keeps it exciting and invites one to play again and again.

No Pay-to-Win: There isn’t any pay-to-win in-game purchases, and I appreciate that a lot. Everyone can have an even chance at winning.

What Can Be Improved:

Graphics and Appearance: As much as I appreciate that simple, map-based style works for the game, I don’t have a lot of praise for the graphics. They’re not particularly impressive, but they work, and I’m not a big fan of them, to say the least.

AI Challenge: AI opponents can sometimes become a little predictable and a little too simple to defeat, particularly for seasoned players. Having a difficulty level a little higher could make a big difference.

In-game Communication: There isn’t any chat, voice chat, in the game, and sometimes working in a group in group modes can be challenging at times. Having a better communications system could make a big impact.

Overall Thoughts: Territorial.io is a simple game but a lot of fun to play. It’s perfect for players who enjoy a little strategy and don’t have a lot of time for long gaming sessions. Having a multiplayer feature keeps it exciting, and even with not particularly complex rules, the difficulty level is perfect for casuals who can only manage a little gaming session at a time. If you’re in search of a free, competitive, and fun activity for an hour, try it out!

Rating: 🌎🌍🌏🌎 (4/5) – A simple yet challenging strategy game that is simple to start and a challenge to stop. It could use a little improvement in a few areas, but it’s a lot of enjoyment!
